Marathi film industry lost a gem as actor Vijay Chavan passed away on Friday morning. He was 63-years-old. Popularly known for the comic characters he played onscreen and in theatre, Vijay had been suffering from a prolonged illness. He succumbed to death as he breathed his last at Fortis Hospital, Mulund, say reports.

Some of Chavan's popular works include Mumbaicha Dabewala, Jatra, Zapatlela and many more. He is best known for the his role of Mavshi in the famous Marathi Stage drama Moruchi Mavshi. This comedy play was penned by Pralhad Keshav Atre. More details on his funeral are awaited.
