Miss World Manushi Chhillar is gaining appreciation all over the globe. Her initiative 'Beauty With A Purpose' for 'Feminine Hygiene Awareness' campaign is receiving a lot of gratefulness. Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu praised 'Feminine Hygiene Awareness' campaign of Miss World Organisation for promoting women's hygiene through use of biodegradable sanitary napkins. He said, “It answers a big felt need of girls and women in India and elsewhere in the world".
Naidu further added, “The eco-friendly and affordable high quality sanitary pads highlights frugal innovation and the much-desired holistic approach to development. i am glad to note that employment creation and restoring the dignity of women are commendable spinoffs of this enterprise. This initiative and the campaign is a combination of strengths of Beauty with Purpose and Freedom from Shame".
Chhillar, who is currently the Chairperson of Miss World Organisation met Naidu along with other delegates including Julia Morley and a delegation of makers of sanitary napkins in India. The vice- president also noted that Manushi exemplifies the phrase a blend of ''beauty and duty makes one mighty", through her work.
The recently crowned beauty got tremendous support from an NGO named ‘Aakar’ that aims to provide low cost, compostable sanitary pads in rural and urban India and spread menstrual hygiene awareness. She also recently visited Indian Jute Industries Research Association (IJIRA), a sanitary pad making unit, which helps make sanitary napkins from jute material. Miss World also lends her to Haryana based Project Shakti for the similar purpose.
