Thiruvananthapuram, May 23:  Malayalam film actor Vijayan Peringod passed away at Palakkad today following heart-related ailments. He was 67 and is survived by a wife and three children, family sources said. Known for his small but notable roles in many blockbuster movies, Vijayan was a permanent presence in the films of hitmakers like Lal Jose and Sathyan Anthikad.

The actor entered the film industry through the movie "Asthram", helmed by veteran director P N Menon in the year 1983. He later essayed notable roles in over 40 films, including "Meesamadhavan", "Mambazham", "Pattalam", "Achuvinte Amma" and "Rakshadhikari Baiju" in his over three-decades-long career.
