In a major turn of events, four members of Ravi Pujari gang sentenced to 5 years of rigorous imprisonment by Special MCOCA Court in Mumbai. They were plotting the murder of director-Producer Mahesh Bhatt, reports ANI. In October 2017, Bhatt testified against members of the Ravi Pujari gang for threatning him and his family, Soni Razdan, Pooja Bhatt and Alia Bhatt. The gang apparently wanted to kill the Bhatt family in 2014 to impress ‘fear’ in the film industry.

Earlier, in a court, Bhatt was quoted by Mumbai Mirror saying, “In 2007, after her movie Dhoka released, Pooja and I, both, got threatening calls from Ravi Pujari. There was a call made to my office too.” Soon, the security around the residence was beefed up.

The Crime Branch earlier told the media, “During interrogation of the accused, it emerged it was not for the first time the gang members had gathered outside Bhatt's office to target him on Saturday. The shooters had gone there 2-3 times in the past two months. However, they could not execute their plan as circumstances did not favour them.” The gang was also reportedly involved in the firing done outside the producer-brothers Karim and Ali Morani in 2014.

The gang also earlier, kept a watch on Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment office. The accused had checked out the entry points and exits at both the places and were aware about the numbers of guards and the places where they were posted,” said additional commissioner of police (Crime) K M M Prasanna.
