But in an interview to a leading daily, Ma Anand Sheela aka Sheela Birnstiel has stated that she has not given Priyanka the permission to portray her onscreen. In an interview to HT, Ma Anand Sheela spilled intriguing beans on the much discussed biopic. Speculations were rife that Sheela Birnstiel had sent Priyanka Chopra Jonas a legal notice after the latter had announced that she’d be featuring in a biopic made on the former. When asked about it Sheela Birnstiel was quoted as saying, “I told her I do not give her permission to do [the] film because I have not chosen her... In Switzerland, we send legal notices very simply. Ma Anand Sheela also said that neither Priyanka Chopra Jonas nor her team has responded to the notice she sent. With regards to it she further said, “No, never. Not even a courtesy letter that they received my notice but that’s not an issue, maybe she never had the opportunity to meet me or make time to meet me and it is no big issue... not everybody has the time to meet me.” In the interview, Sheela Birnstiel also mentioned that Alia Bhatt has the spunk to play her role.
