Lyric McHenry, 26, was found dead half-naked on Tuesday in New York City. The reality star appeared on the E! reality series EJNYC, a spin-off show of Rich Kids of Beverly Hills. She was reportedly 20 weeks pregnant when she was found ‘sprawled’ near the Alexander Hamilton Bridge by the Harlem River in the Bronx in the early hours of Tuesday morning. According to the New York Times, police found her partly clothed with a bag of cocaine nearby. The investigation is ongoing, and the cause of death is pending from the medical examiner.

“On Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at approximately 0505 hours, police encountered a 26-year-old female, unconscious and unresponsive, lying on the sidewalk in the vicinity of Undercliff Avenue and Boscobel Place,” NYPD police said in a statement. She was rushed to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, where she later was declared died. The statement added, “There were no obvious signs of trauma observed.”

McHenry’s family released a statement to People magazine that confirms the reality TV personality’s death: “Lyric’s warmth, compassion and energy will be missed by many and the family would appreciate that all speculation surrounding the circumstances of death cease until the real facts are determined.” Funeral plans for McHenry are being scheduled in Los Angeles, where she grew up and returned to in February.

Lyric ran her own YouTube channel and produced videos like Lingo with Lyric, which aimed to explore the issues around the ‘post-race’ presidential election of 2016. She was passionate about race equality and had recently graduated Stanford university with a degree in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity. The reality star was celebrating her birthday, which was on August 6, hours before her death as she had posted videos of her friends posing with her and wishing her a happy belated birthday.
