Heartbeat's ending was quite obvious and predictable. Won Ji An and Ok Teacyeon did a great job with that sparkling chemistry and sweet love scenes. The series also narrates a vampire love story from a completely different perspective where the more than a century-year-old vampire throws a lot of stereotypes of the genre out of the window. He has the power to walk in the sun without getting burnt, he doesn't need the invitation of the owner to enter any home or isn't always lusting for blood. In fact, we liked the concept of half-human half-vampire existence that is rarely explored ever. Heartbeat: 5 Reasons Why Ok Taecyeon and Won Ji An Series Deserved A Better Ending.

But despite so many pluses, there were some plot-holes in Heartbeat we couldn't ignore. We have discussed five of them right here.

No questions asked

When Ok Taecyeon's Seon Woo Hyeol wakes up abruptly from his almost 100-year-long slumber, he never enquires about his friends who were always with him. He is not even curious about them. Shouldn't he be inquisitive to know where they are and what they are doing?

No care for gold

Throughout the series, only rarely does Woo Hyeol feel hassled by the disappearance of his gold stash. He didn't even care to look for it when he discovered they were gone.

No origin story

Seon Woo Hyeol has been a vampire throughout the series but when did he become one? Can you take birth as a vampire? Did someone sire him? The instances are not explained properly.

The strange connection

When In Hae, played by Won Ji An, bites Woo Yeol, it leaves a mark on his shoulder that serves as a danger alert for him whenever she is in harm's way. Nothing much is explored about it. Woo Yeol is not even curious why such a connection persists and why In Hae is bonded to him. Clearly, it had to do with his past connection with In Hae's previous birth but it's very negligently explored. Heartbeat: 5 Times Won Ji An Proves She Is Unlike A Korean Rom-Com Heroine.

So many questions

All the tricks that Woo Yeol unearths to become human have no back-references. They are just so random. Why sleep for 100 years or suck someone dry? They don't refer to any ancient books to gain knowledge about it or even bother to look for a loophole. Also, when Woo Hyeol drinks Hae Sun's blood many years back, why didn't he turn into a human? He needed a person whose blood was filled with love, Hae Sun's was just that.
All these shortcomings make Heartbeat quite a tedious watch. Yes, romance warms the heart but rest never manages to touch our hearts. Maybe there will be a better explanation in the second season.
