Koena Mitra Launches an Attack on Huma Qureshi’s Series Leila; Calls It Hinduphobic

Koena Mitra has challenged the OTT platform to make a series on Halala.

Koena Mitra might have disappeared from the movie scene, but she still continues to grab headlines. The actress launched an attack on Netflix for their upcoming original Leila starring Huma Qureshi. The first promo of the upcoming limited series, directed by Deepa Mehta, was released today. The show is set in a dystopian future where children born from an inter-faith couple are detained by the government. The show has been branded as 'Hindu hate series' by Koena. She also said in a tweet that she will be unsubscribing from Netflix.

"This isn't an ordinary hate," she said making her point. Then she challenged the OTT platform to make a series on Halala. "Halala is real....No fiction," she said.

Koena also hashtagged Sacred Games in her tweet. Thus alluding that she found the Saif Ali Khan web-series as Hinduphobic as well.

Netflix is gaining quite a stronghold in the Indian market. Sacred Games was a huge hit and its second season will drop this year. Netflix will also be launching a new web-series produced by Shah Rukh Khan. This one is titled Bard of Blood and stars Emraan Hashmi in the lead role. The OTT platform has also commissioned 10 new original movies from various prominent Indian filmmakers.
