Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2: 5 Daily Soap Cliches We Want the Reboot to Stay Away From

Ekta Kapoor is all set to bring back Kasautii Zindagii Kay into our lives starting tonight. The reboot features Erica Fernandez as Prerna and Paarth Samthaan as Anurag (and, hopefully, Hina Khan as Komilika). While we are happy to see the endearing love story being told on the small screen once again, we are also hoping that some factors should not return in the new version. Especially, all the cliches of an Indian soap opera. Here we are listing down 5 such cliches that Kasautii Zindagii Kay reboot should stay away from. Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2: Dear Ekta Kapoor, Here Are 5 Things We Expect to See in The First Episode.
Plastic Surgery
God forbid, but if an actor quits the show midway, we don't want the change in an actor to be explained through plastic surgery. Change in the face through plastic surgery remains a favourite trope for showrunners in India. And we have seen it so many times, that we doubt if it will bring any impact any more.
The revival of a dead character
Sometimes the best thing to ever happen to a daily soap is the death of a fan favourite character. The way it changes the story is very emotionally engaging. But many times, makers prefer to bring back the dead characters to life, through a plot twist, to appease the fans. What is the point of taking a risk as huge as killing a character if you are going to take a step back soon?
Time Leap
The time leap in the narrative might sound like a tempting idea but it has rarely ever worked out logically. In the process of taking a leap of several years, makers often forget to factor in the change in the year. A show set in 2018 taking a leap of 10 years, will again be set in 2018, for some unexplainable reason. And logically, it makes no sense.
Women being ultimate enemies of each other
How about we see women just stand the hell up for each other this time. Quite often, TV shows end up having way too many negative female characters ganging up on the poor heroine. Can we please have women just support each other like never before? Let us prove, "Ek aurat hi dusri aurat ki sachchi dost hoti hai!"
The bizarre editing
We have so much good content on Indian TV. No, truly. So many good stories of love and family. But quite often these stories are hampered by the soap opera style editing of the shows. Let us just end the cliche of bad editing with Kasautii Zindagii Kay reboot.
