Janhvi Kapoor is all set to make her big screen debut with Dhadak co-starring Shahid Kapoor's brother Ishan Khatter. The Karan Johar's production looks slick and absolutely colourful. While Ishaan is making all the right noises thanks to his zestful dance moves and his incredible boyish charm, Kapoor gal is impressing one and all with her innocence and her easy screen presence. But do you know that Janhvi was supposed to pursue anything but acting?
We know how strict was Janhvi's mother late Sridevi. Given her reputation for dedication and disciplined, Sridevi was not exactly happy about Jhanvi's choice to enter Bollywood. In an interview to Indian Express, when Jhanvi was asked about Sridevi’s reaction on her decision to become an actor, she said, “There were a lot of sounds. There was a lot of ‘Aiyyo!’, but I think she knew that the bug had bitten this poor girl.” She further added, "When I was a kid, she really wanted me to become a doctor. I don’t know why, and I was like, ‘I am sorry mom, but I don’t have the intellect to become a doctor.’
Dhadak' is an official adoption of Marathi blockbuster film 'Sairat'.Asked if both budding actors felt pressurised by the challenge of matching up to Sairat's high, Janhvi said: "I watched Sairat before even shooting for this film and I loved it. During the shoot, we did not think about the film, we were more into our film. We tried to tell the same story from a different perspective. Our setting is different and both characters are vastly different. So we take the pressure as responsibility as we want to give Sairat the respect it deserves."
