'I Would Have Loved To Create A Controversy,' Says John Abraham On Clashing With Akshay Kumar This Independence Day

This is not the first time that John and Akshay are clashing at the box-office. Last year Gold and Satyamev Jayate too released on the Independence Day

Akshay and John are all set to clash at the box-office yet again this Independence Day

Considering there are so many films that release in India in one year, clashes are bound to happen. There are times when they can be averted to benefit both the parties, but there are also times when it's not possible for producers to shift their release dates. For example, John Abraham and Akshay Kumar, who as we all know are very good friends are releasing their respective upcoming movies on the same day, that is August 15, 2019. Yep! John's Batla House and Akshay's Mission Mangal are all set to hit the theatres this Independence Day.

It's not surprising then that John was asked about this clash at the trailer launch of his film which was held in Mumbai on Wednesday, and the actor said that he would have loved to create a controversy, but there isn't any.  "Honestly, if there was a controversy, I would have loved to create it but Akshay and I are really good friends. We really get along. In fact, we texted each other just one day back and there is absolutely nothing. We just happen to be releasing out films on the same day," said John. After Gold vs Satyameva Jayate, It Is Mission Mangal vs Batla House! Is John Abraham and Akshay Kumar’s Friendship Turning Into Box-Office Rivalry?

The actor also went on to add that they are giving audience a good choice of films and wished good luck to Mission Mangal, which also stars Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kriti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi. The film tells the story of scientists at Indian Space Research Organisation, who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission also called as Mangalyan, which was India's first interplanetary expedition. As for Batla House, which also stars Mrunal Thakur, Prakash Raj and Ravi Kishan is based on the controversial Operation Batla House, which took place on September 19, 2008. Two suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists were killed in the Batla House locality in Jamia Nagar, Delhi, while two others suspects were arrested. Encounter specialist cop Mohan Chand Sharma was also killed during this operation. The authenticity of this encounter was questioned by various human rights organizations including teachers and students of the Jamia Millia Islamia University. Here's the trailer of Batla House, in case you missed it:

Honestly, we are excited to watch both these films. As John said, cine goers have a good choice of movies this Independence Day, but it's obvious that one movie will stand tall at the box office. Which one will it be? Well, all we can do is just wait and watch.
