I For India Concert: Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, Ranveer Singh, Will Smith And Other Celebs Come Together For a Musical Night For A Good Cause
Organised by Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar, the concert will see the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Akshay Kumar, Gulzar, AR Rahman, Alia Bhatt, Will Smith, Mick Jagger, Russel Peters and Nick Jonas among 85 other artists take part.
Shah Rukh Khan finally arrives and it has been a wonderful finale act. Singing to a special song composed by Badshah, also written by the rapper, SRK not only leave a special message but also takes digs at himself. And to add icing to the cake, he is also joined by his youngest son, AbRam!
Vicky Kaushal comes next, and can he stay away from making a reference to his biggest hot, Uri: The Surgical Strike. He says that usually surgical strikes are done in enemy territories, but in the case of COVID-19, surgical strike can only be done by being at home.
Singer Sonu Nigam comes next, and gives a wonderful performance indeed. He first starts with the Dil Chahta Hai track "Tanhayee", Pardes song "Yeh Dil Deewana" and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham track "Sooraj Hua Madham". He also brings his son Nevaan for a special song. We have to say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, listening to him sing.
Bryan Adams comes next to ask his fans to help the I for India initiative, and he does that by singing his track 'Shine a Light' while also playing the guitar. A magical Bryan Adams performance indeed!
After Mira Nair's ode to Irrfan Khan, now Amitabh Bachchan pays tribute to his dear friend Rishi Kapoor, who passed away on April 30. He spoke of shooting in RK Studios, how Rishi Kapoor's walking style reminded him of Prithviraj Kapoor and his sense of humour was inherited from his father the Showman, Raj Kapoor. It was a very emotional message and we can see that Rishi Kapoor's demise has left a beng dent in Big B's life.
The I For India also pays a little tribute to the recently departed Irrfan Khan. And it was his Salaam Bombay and The Namesake director who did the honours, talking about how special actor and a human being Irrfan was, and how difficult it would be to live in a world without him.
Cricketer Rohit Sharma comes next and he talks to G Srijana, Collector of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation on how they are handling the crisis, while also thanking her for her services.
The eldest of the Jonas Brothers, Kevin Jonas, comes next with his wife Danielle and their two lovely little daughters. They have the most enthusiastic appeal to the fans to help the I For India initiative, and it is truly heartwarming.
Alia Bhatt and sister Shaheen Bhatt come together for the next bit. They thank the COVID-19 warriors and asks fans to help the I For India initiative. They also croon the 'Ik Kudi' song from Alia's film, Udta Punjab, as well as the title track of Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi, that was directed by their father, Mahesh Bhatt, and starred their elder sister, Pooja.
Hrithik Roshan comes next, and he first puts his appeal to help the 'I For India' initiative. He then surprised us with a piano performance, as he performs to "Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan", which he also sings. Wow!
Parineeti Chopra comes next, and she says she stands in stand in solidarity for those affected by the pandemic. She advises us to not indulge in negativity in these trying times. Parineeti also sings "Teri Mitti" from her film, Kesari.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan comes next, and after speaking about the seriousness of the situation, she teleconferences with a Seven Hill hospital doctor, The doctor and his team are fighting COVID-19 day and night and they discuss the importance of raising the morale of the staff in these times.
Diljit Dosanjh comes next and he sings a brief version of the Udta Punjab song 'Ik Kudi'. Gulzar saaheb comes next and he recites a small poem before talking about the need of humanity in these times.
Popular YouTube personality Lilly Singh, or as we know her as pseudonym Superwoman, does a comic bit, where she plays multiple versions of herself. Fans of Superwoman would have loved that bit.
Singer Hariharan comes next, and he croons the track "Dheemi Dheemi" from the movie 1947-Earth. The song was composed by AR Rahman and written by Javed Akhtar. And as always, Hariharan's soulful singing just makes thing better.
Rani Mukerji comes next, and she talks about the safety of children during the crisis. She appeals to parents to be extra careful and report anything suspicious to the police. She quotes her daughter Adhira who calls Corona a monster that will go away soon.
While a lot of celebrities, mainly singers chose to hold online digital concerts, Give India has organised one of the biggest events. Title I for India, the concert will see close to 85 Indian and Hollywood celebrities come together for a virtual concert and raise proceeds that will, in turn, go to the frontline workers who have been fighting the Coronavirus pandemic and keeping the rest of us safe.
