Wonder Woman 2: Kristen Wiig Roped In To Play Antagonist Cheetah

Kristen Wiig is known for her appearances in Saturday Night Live, as well as for her humorous roles in Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters reboot, The Martian and the recent Downsizing.

In an interesting casting coup, comedy queen Kristen Wiig has been confirmed to play the main antagonist Cheetah in the upcoming sequel of Wonder Woman. Director Patty Jenkins had confirmed this news on her Twitter page, as she wrote "So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes! It’s true! So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Can't wait to finally work with one of my favorites. And SO excited by what we have planned. #Cheetah!!! @GalGadot"

Kristen Wiig is known for her appearances in Saturday Night Live, as well as for her humorous roles in Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters reboot, The Martian and the recent Downsizing. Cheetah, the character she will be playing in Wonder Woman, is considered as one of Diana Prince's most dangerous enemies. In the movie, Wiig will reportedly play Barbara Ann Minerva, a British anthropologist, who turns into a cheetah god in a bizarre accident.

Gal Gadot will return to play Diana Prince, the Amazonian princess, who has become a fan favourite thanks to the super success of her solo movie in 2017.

Recently speaking about the sequel, Jenkins had this to say, "I'm not a big obligation person when it comes to art. You want to do a movie like this because you believe in it. Then I had this revelation in the middle of the night: this is your dream cast, you've created a character that you love and you can say anything you want in the world right now. Then I realized that Wonder Woman 2 is its own great movie. I made Wonder Woman. Now I want to make Wonder Woman 2. It's a beautiful story to tell, an important time to tell it and with people that I love."

Wonder Woman 2 will begin shooting later this year.
