DCEU's Suicide Squad was a disappointment, to say the least. The movie did not live up to the gigantic expectations of the fans, but all hope is not lost. The studio seems to have learnt the lesson - proof being Wonder Woman and Aquaman's success - and is planning to reboot Suicide Squad with the upcoming sequel. But Will Smith, the most A-lister star on the cast, will not be returning for this updated version. As per the latest reports, the studio and the actor have mutually decided to parts ways and there is no animosity, and Will not be appearing in the soft-reboot titled The Suicide Squad.

Variety reports that scheduling conflicts are the reason why Will won't be a part of The Suicide Squad to reprise his role of the anti-hero Deadshot. This leaves only Margot Robbie, who plays Harley Quinn, as the only returning cast member at the moment. She will also be reprising the role in the upcoming DC movie, Birds of Prey.

The Suicide Squad is being helmed by Marvel alumni, James Gunn. Post his unceremonious ouster from directorial duties of Guardians of the Galaxy volume 3, James was roped in by Warner Bros to write and direct the movie. The Suicide Squad is currently slated to open on August 6, 2021.

Will's exit adds to the increasing list of actors quitting DCEU. Ben Affleck has hung the cape as Batman after starring in two movies. Henry Cavill is also not returning as Superman. Jared Leto has also been replaced, as per reports. What's happening, DC? We are looking forward to seeing what James does with the Suicide Squad.
