Adam McKay's VICE digs into recent history. The film is based on the life of Dick Cheney, who was Vice President to George W Bush during the latter's presidency years, and produces a portrait of a man credited with changing the history of the United States and that of the world after 9/11 terrorist attack on the US. Christian Bale plays Dick Cheney and has been largely successful in displaying the role of Cheney, who wielded great authority and power but with little accountability and not much to answer as he acted mostly from behind the scenes. Amy Adams plays Dick Cheney's wife Lynne Cheney, Sam Rockwell plays George W. Bush and Steve Carell essays the role of Donald Rumsfeld.

Talking about the chances of the film VICE winning the Best Picture award on Oscars night, the task looks a bit distant not because VICE is a weak film (though it has its flaws), but because it falls short of the other films in the category.
