Venom - The Last Dance Trailer: Did You Notice This Scene That Connects Tom Hardy's Film Back to MCU's Spider-Man No Way Home? (Watch Video)
The trailer hints at a crossover with the MCU, featuring Chiwetel Ejiofor as an unnamed US Army General who captures a piece of the Venom symbiote, observed by Cristo Fernández's character.
Tom Hardy is returning as Eddie Brock/Venom for the third, and perhaps final, time in Venom: The Last Dance. Oh wait, he has appeared as Venom four times in total if we include his cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he featured in one of the two post-credit scenes. That scene is referenced in the first trailer of Venom: The Last Dance, directed by Kelly Marcel, which premiered on 3 June. The scene in question from the trailer shows Chiwetel Ejiofor's character, an unnamed US Army General, trapping a piece of the Venom symbiote in a test tube. The person watching him, looking confused, is actor Cristo Fernández, best known for portraying Dani Rojas in Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso.
Fans of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) will also remember Fernández playing a bartender in the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he explains Spider-Man and the ongoing events in the MCU to Eddie Brock. The current Venom movies, produced by Sony, are set in a different universe, but Doctor Strange's spell in No Way Home brings Brock into the MCU, as seen in the post-credit scene of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Watch the Post-Credit Scene of Venom: Let There Be Carnage:
Judging by the trailer of Venom: The Last Dance, it appears that without Doctor Strange's spell, Ejiofor's character has somehow managed to travel to the MCU to obtain the Venom symbiote. Fernández is wearing the same clothes he was seen wearing in No Way Home.
Watch the Post-Credit Scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home:
Interestingly, Ejiofor plays a different character in the MCU—Karl Mordo, a sorcerer and former ally of Doctor Strange who later becomes his nemesis in the 2016 Doctor Strange film. He also appeared as Mordo in the 2022 sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, albeit a different iteration from another universe. Could this mean that his character in Venom: The Last Dance is a different version of Mordo who has joined the army? Or is this another case of Sonyverse movies screwing up multiversal connections with MCU as Morbius did with Michael Keaton's Adrian Toomes, aka Vulture?

Interestingly, Cristo Fernández's Ted Lasso co-star Juno Temple also plays a crucial role in the film, and her character appears to be a scientist. The film sees Venom on the run from the authorities, eventually fighting a war against various other symbiotes. Venom: The Last Dance is set to be released on 25 October 2024.
