The movie which was supposed to release on March 20, is the third instalment in the animated film franchise. It will be released pan India in 2D, 3D and IMAX. Writer-director Dean DeBlois returns alongside the all-star cast, with Jay Baruchel reprising his role of Hiccup, for the last instalment in the series. The film is produced by Brad Lewis and Bonnie Arnold.
The final entry in the animated franchise is reaching new heights of success globally, winning the worldwide box office for the second weekend in a row with an estimated opening total of $30 million in ticket sales at 4,286 theatres in the U.S. and Canada from Friday through Sunday. It has now earned an impressive $97.7 million in domestic ticket sales boosting its global total to an estimated $375.4 million, far surpassing the previous titles in the franchise at this stage.
Lewis had earlier stated, "It is such a thrill to make an adventure that is equal parts sincere and epic - one that helps an audience feel such a gamut of emotions." The voice cast also includes names like America Ferrera, Cate Blanchett, Kit Harrington, Craig Ferguson, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig and F. Murray Abraham.
