The 2024 disaster film Twisters received good reviews and enjoyed a decent box office run. One of the most likeable aspects of the film, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell in the lead, is how it handled the central relationship between the couple. Twisters handled this track sensibly, showing the increasing respect and bonding between the two. We can see them falling in love with each other - the climax even features a stereotypical airport sequence, usually associated with romantic dramas. But the Lee Isaac Chung directorial stops right before showing them having a full-blown romance. The film doesn't even feature a kiss between the two. ‘Twisters’: Deleted Kissing Scene of Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones Goes Viral After Fans Complain of No Kiss Between Lead Couple in Movie.

Which doesn't mean that it was not shot. Earlier, after the movie's release, a deleted sequence went viral, which was shot at the same airport location and featured a passionate kiss between the lead couple. Now, after Twisters had a digital release on certain platforms, another deleted scene is going viral. Even though it features no kiss, the scene depicts a cute, intimate moment between Powell and Jones' characters that would have enhanced their bonding if it was retained in the film (even if it would extend the runtime).

Seeing the reaction to the video, we can deduce that fans love this scene, but they are annoyed that it was not retained in the final film. Some are even blaming Steven Spielberg, who serves as an executive producer (also for the 1996 film Twister), for the deletion of the scene and trolling him heavily. ‘Twisters’ Movie Review: Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell’s ‘Disaster Flick’ Has One Strong Asset – Likeable Human Characters!

They are also dragging his last directorial, The Fabelmans, into the trolling. The Fabelmans, which came out in 2022, was inspired by Spielberg's own life. One of the main tracks showed his parents' broken marriage and eventual divorce. Netizens claim that Spielberg hates romance, which is why he didn't want such scenes in any movie.

Why Is Steven Spielberg Getting The Blame For Deleted Scenes?

For that, we need to go a couple of weeks back to a quote that the Twisters lead stars gave when they were asked about the absence of the kiss they shot at the airport in the film. Daisy Edgar-Jones revealed to Collider that it is a 'Spielberg note', as it was the filmmaker who advised the team to take off the kiss. She added, "I think it stops the film feeling too clichéd, actually. I think there’s something really wonderful about it feeling like there’s a continuation. This isn’t the end of their story. They’re united by their shared passion for something."

Powell expanded on this by defending the cut, saying, "I feel like a kiss would be sort of unrepresentative of the right goal at the end of the movie. And it is a good Spielberg note. It’s why that kid is still in this game. It’s amazing."

Now, we are not sure if the other deleted scene, which doesn't involve any kissing, was also removed because of a 'note' from Spielberg. Whatever the reason may be, fans are annoyed by this creative decision.
