This summer's big spectacle movie, Twisters, directed by Lee Isaac Chung, is all set to revive the disaster genre that has seen a slump in recent times (no offence, Roland Emmerich). A sequel to the 1996 classic Twister, the movie stars Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones in the lead, while Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, and Sasha Lane are also part of the cast. The plot centres around a group of storm chasers who, armed with cutting-edge technology, embark on a perilous mission to study and survive a series of unprecedented super-tornadoes. Tom Cruise Makes a Dashing Appearance at London Premiere of ‘Twisters’, Shares Photo Posing With Glen Powell.

The reviews of Twisters are out, and it seems that not all are fans of the new tornado-chasers. Some call it a fluff sequel, while some other reviews feel that Twisters delivers in full force what the film promises.

Check Out the Negative Reviews of Twisters First:

Variety says, "Twisters, a stand-alone sequel coming out close to three decades later, will certainly be compared to the original film (to cut to the storm chase: It’s not nearly as good). But it will also, inevitably, be viewed through the scrim of all the real-life tornado footage that’s now readily available to those of us who are couch-potato storm chasers, happy to sit at home watching other people’s close encounters with tornadoes."

Vulture says, "Twisters is strangely insistent that the moral thing for its characters to do is rush toward communities about to be hit by a tornado, though it labors to show how exactly they’re supposed to help once they get there. There’s no sadder sign of the times than a film whose moment of triumph involves an individual figuring out how to diffuse a single storm — a supposed step toward saving the world — but which refuses to acknowledge the larger issues buffeting its characters like gale-force winds. CNN says, "Frankly, this Twister revisitation might have been better served by following the old title with an exclamation point instead of an 'S.' Either way, the assignment of replicating the first movie’s appeal would have presented a challenge, but Twisters makes that task harder due to headwinds entirely of its own making." Twisters Trailer: Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell Chase After 'Double Twisters' In This Heart-Pounding Disaster Thriller.

The Positive Reviews of 'Twisters'

Indiewire says, "For all of the unearned goodwill that “Twisters” extends to viral content creators, it still makes one of this summer’s most emphatic arguments in favor of the big screen experience. A movie theater may not be the safest place to hide from a tornado, but this winning July blockbuster makes perfectly clear that huddling in the dark with strangers is a hell of a lot better than watching the storm from home. IGN says, "Twisters has charm for days, even if it doesn’t slow down long enough to let us get to know the characters better. Thankfully, stars Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Anthony Ramos bring plenty of personality to the film through their performances. With scenes of natural disaster grounded in a human point of view, Lee Isaac Chung's spiritual sequel transcends its visual shortcomings, and proves to be a wildly fun and effective summer blockbuster worth watching on the biggest and loudest screen.
