Yes, it's happening! Tom Hardy's Venom 2 is all set to go on floors and Andy Serkis has been roped in as the director for the same. A report in Hollywood Reporter confirms Serkis' association with the sequel and the actor turned director too confirmed these reports via his Instagram post. He's all set to replace Ruben Fleischer who directed the 2018 release, Venom. The ones who are wondering about the reason for his replacement, well, it's because Ruben is busy with the post-production work of Zombieland: Double Tap. Serkis has recently turned director and Venom 2 will be his third outing. He has previously helmed movies like Breathe in 2017 and his 2018 Jungle Book adaptation of Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle for Netflix. He is well known for his work as motion capture and voice actor with roles like Caesar in the War for the Planet of the Apes, Snoke in the recent Star Wars films, and most famously, as Gollum in Lord of the Rings. And sources believe his experience in the same should be credited for helping him bag this sequel. The post-credit scene of Venom had then introduced Carnage, Venom’s nemesis whose human form, Cletus Kasady was played by Woody Harrelson. Now we wonder if Serkis' directorial will continue the same story or take a different approach. Meanwhile, the project is expected to go on floors in Fall and release in October 2020.
