Miley Cyrus Opens Up: Why She's Unsure About Motherhood?

Cyrus thinks of her fans as her offspring, viewing them as extensions of herself and finding fulfilment in their support and admiration. Cyrus's perspective on motherhood expanded beyond traditional notions, embracing a broader understanding of the term and drawing parallels to influential figures like RuPaul and Beyoncé, who also inspire intense devotion from their followers. Reflecting on her godmother Dolly Parton's choice not to have children, Cyrus resonated with the idea that familial bonds can transcend biological ties, finding solace in her relationship with her fans. She said in the same interview, "I love being an adult. I have a rule that I don’t look up or don’t look down at anyone. I just look, which allows me the clarity to see the world for what it really is and people for who they really are. I look at myself almost every day in the mirror and I say, “I am a woman.” I’m 31 now, and I still don’t know if I want kids or not. I feel like my fans kind of are my kids in some way. I’ve heard Dolly say that too, because she didn’t have kids."  Grammys 2024: Miley Cyrus Channels Her Inner Tina Turner As She Ignites the Stage With Fiery 'Flowers' Performance (Watch Videos).

Cyrus has revisited her stance on motherhood, echoing sentiments she expressed previously in a 2019 interview with Elle. At that time, she candidly discussed her resistance to societal pressures regarding women's roles and priorities, challenging the notion that reproduction should be the default expectation for women. She added, “We’re expected to keep the planet populated. And when that isn’t a part of our plan or our purpose, there is so much judgment and anger that they try to make and change laws to force it upon you — even if you become pregnant in a violent situation.”

Cyrus Opens Up: Her Connection with Her Mother

When asked about her mother's involvement in her career, Miley proudly said, "One of the things that we text about is our relationships with our mothers. Like her mom, Ms. Tina, my mom is also an M.T. Mama Tish. A lot of people call her Mom, in the way that Ms. Tina is almost not just a mother to Beyoncé, but to Beyoncé’s fans as well. Both of us grew up, in our own way, with moms who were everything. My mom was my makeup, hair, seamstress, styling, tour manager—like, the actual manager. The word “mother” is the most all-encompassing word."

Miley has made her stance on having kids clear: it's not in her plans. It looks like she's set to achieve even more records and potentially add more Grammys to her collection in the near future.
