That Hollywood has churned out some massive hits this year is no news. While Avengers: Endgame stormed the box office across the globe, currently The Lion King is having a dream run at the ticket windows in India and abroad as well. The live-action remake of Disney's animated classic came out last month and it's still minting big money at the Indian box office. Directed by Jon Favreau, the movie opened to mixed reviews from the critics but took a massive opening on day 1. In fact, it became the second Hollywood film of the year to surpass the Rs 50 crore mark in the opening weekend itself in India. And now the Hollywood biggie is eyeing to enter the Rs 150 crore club. Revealing the film's updated figure, well-known trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter a while back and wrote, "#TheLionKing inches closer to ₹ 150 cr... Has one more week to score [till 15 Aug]... Biz will depend on screen space thereafter... [Week 3] Fri 1.76 cr, Sat 4.45 cr, Sun 5.67 cr, Mon 1.44 cr, Tue 1.20 cr, Wed 1.10 cr, Thu 1.02 cr. Since Mission Mangal and Batla House are arriving in cinema halls next Thursday, The Lion King will definitely slow down at the domestic box office. However, the Disney offering will get cash registers ringing at the ticket windows for a few weeks more.
