Earlier in the day, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to the microblogging site Twitter and revealed, "#TheLionKing screen count...India: 2140 #English #Hindi #Tamil #Telugu..Has started on a good note... Will be the first choice of moviegoers this week... Should collect in double digits on Day 1 [all versions combined]."
Further, Boxofficeindia.com has also reported, "Lion King had a good start with collections in the 30-35% range. It is the seventh best opening of the year if we count Hindi and Hollywood releases and the opening is a little less than Spider-Man - Far From Home released a few weeks back." The Lion King European Premiere: Beyonce, Jon Favreau, Seth Rogen, Elton John, Pharrell Williams Brought Their Panache To The Red (Well, Golden) Carpet!
"This is a good result for The Lion King as its a film where the target audience of kids and families will come on Saturday so it is sure to go up by a margin as the under 16 audience comes in numbers especially in the metros. The opening may be a little less than Spider-Man - Far From Home but the first day can beat that film as this film can have better growth from late afternoon onward."
Tom Holland starrer had raked in Rs 10.05 crore on first day in India. So as per early estimates it seems The Lion King could very well end day 1 with two-digit figure. However, we'll get to know official collection only by tomorrow.
