The Lion King Box Office Collection Day 5: The Hollywood Biggie Is Trending Better Than Hindi Films, Mints Rs 69.67 Crore

The Lion King entered the Rs 50 crore club in the opening weekend itself and became the second Hollywood film to do so this year after Marvel's Avengers: Endgame. If the Disney classic keeps trending well then it could leave behind quite a few Bollywood biggies in the box office race as well.

Disney's live-action animated film The Lion King is getting cash registers ringing in India and how. The movie released last Friday and immediately stormed the ticket windows. Though Jon Favreau's directorial venture couldn't impress the critics big time, it has certainly packed a solid punch at the box office across the globe. In India, the movie took a bigger opening than Spider-Man Far From Home and raked in Rs 11.06 crore on day 1. Over the first weekend, the collections of the movie skyrocketed at the box office as it hardly faced no competition whatsoever. The Lion King Box Office Collection Day 4: Jon Favreau's Directorial Venture Stays Rock Solid on First Monday, Mints Rs 62.65 Crore

The Disney classic even passed the crucial Monday test and performed better than Bollywood movies on Tuesday as well. Announcing the same, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to the microblogging site Twitter a while back and wrote, "#TheLionKing remains in form on weekdays... Trends better than most #Hindi biggies... ₹ 80 cr+ total in Week 1 seems certain... Should cross ₹100 cr in Weekend 2... Fri 11.06 cr, Sat 19.15 cr, Sun 24.54 cr, Mon 7.90 cr, Tue 7.02 cr. Total: ₹ 69.67 cr. India biz. All versions."

Further, Boxofficeindia has reported, "The Tuesday numbers are also better than last weeks Super 30. If we compare with Super 30 over the first five days then it has beaten that film on all the days except the first day and this has meant that it has higher collections over a five day period and a stronger trend." The Lion King Box Office Collection Day 3: Disney's Latest Offering Rakes in Rs 54.75 Crore, Becomes the Second Hollywood Film This Year To Surpass the Rs 50 Crore Mark in the Opening Weekend

"The Lion King is certain to be the fourth highest Hollywood grosser in India though it's unlikely to go higher than fourth as the Jungle Book numbers seem to be out of reach as that film was holding better on the weekdays."

Featuring the voices of James Earl Jones as Mufasa and JD McCrary as Young Simba, the movie has been released in four languages in India - English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
