The Lion King Box Office Collection Day 4: Jon Favreau's Directorial Venture Stays Rock Solid on First Monday, Mints Rs 62.65 Crore
The Lion King, which has stormed the Indian box office, is also faring exceptionally well across the globe. At the worldwide box office, the animated live-action film has grossed around $500 million in just 10 days of its release.
After setting the box office on fire in the opening weekend, The Lion King passed the crucial Monday test and performed superbly on day 4 at the Indian box office. Dinsey's latest outing released last Friday and received a lukewarm response from the critics. Though the animated live-action remake has been lauded for its stunning visual effects, many thought The Lion King lacked in the storytelling department. Nonetheless, the Hollywood biggie took an impressive opening on July 19 and then rocked the domestic box office in India with its performance over the first weekend. Just a while back, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to the microblogging site Twitter and revealed the updated figures saying, "#TheLionKing stays solid on Day 4... Should comfortably cross ₹ 80 cr in Week 1... Weekend 2 [Sat and Sun] should witness an upswing again [like Weekend 1]... Fri 11.06 cr, Sat 19.15 cr, Sun 24.54 cr, Mon 7.90 cr. Total: ₹ 62.65 cr. India biz. All versions."
Boxofficeindia.com has also reported, "The film is another big winner for Hollywood in India after Avengers - Endgame. Monday is the third-highest ever for Hollywood in India after Endgame and Infinity War. The Monday numbers are in the same range as The Jungle Book but that film held stronger as its Friday number was less than The Lion King." Further, the BOI report has also stated that if The Lion King continues its dream at the ticket windows in India then it could probably beat most of the Hindi films at the box office except for Kabir Singh, Uri - The Surgical Strike and Bharat. Guess we'll have to wait a little longer to see if the Disney classic actually manages to do it or not.
