David Leitch's The Fall Guy is a romantic action-comedy that is a tribute to Hollywood's stuntmen and thus has quite a few opportunities to make meta jokes on pop culture, celebs and the industry's way of working. One such joke happens to be on the infamous Johnny Depp-Amber Heard domestic feud. The scene takes place in the third act when after Jody (Emily Blunt) attacks Colt (Ryan Gosling) without recognising who is, inside her trailer. The Fall Guy Movie Review: Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt Bring a Fun Romcom Energy to David Leitch's Action-Packed Love-Letter to Stunt-Men.
This results in her trailer looking like a mess. So when Hannah Waddingham enters the scene - she plays Gail, the executive producer of the movie Jody is directing - she looks at the chaotic situation of the trailer (Colt had gone hiding then) and remarks, "It’s like Amber and Johnny were just in here".
It doesn't take much of a genius to understand that the joke was made on exes Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's notorious domestic spats, which later turned into a highly publicised courtroom trial. This joke, however, didn't go down well with some viewers who are unhappy about The Fall Guy trying to make fun of what is a domestic abuse incident.

'Joke Would Have Made Sense...'
Johnny Depp has a well known reputation for trashing hotel rooms since the 80’s. This joke would have made sense if they had said only his name. But they had to include Amber to make DV the punchline. Not the absurdity of a grown man who trashes things like a petulant child. https://t.co/khChgwn6rp

'Not Actually Understanding What They're About?'
Do the people who made this movie understand that the UK high court found that Johnny Depp raped Amber Heard? Or do they just approve scripts not actually understanding what they're about? https://t.co/RQUzXl9Qtu

Many of the X users who expressed anger over the joke appear to be supporters of Amber Heard. They feel that the jest diminishes her experiences, particularly in light of what they perceive as the legal system's failure to deliver justice regarding her allegations against her ex-husband. Amber Heard Quits Hollywood, Relocates to Spain After Johnny Depp Defamation Case- Reports.
To recollect what happened, the Virginia trial had concluded that Heard's allegations of domestic abuse and sexual violence were false, and she was asked to pay huge compensation in compensatory damages, while Depp's allegations that she and her friends trashed his penthouse were also deemed false. The parties later reached a settlement for a reduced amount. The trial had received massive coverage on television and streaming, and divided the internet over publicising what is a domestic spat.
