It's a sad day for all comic book fans as legendary American comic-book writer, editor, and publisher, Stan Lee breathed his last. He was 95. While Marvel Universe is mourning the loss of this precious personality, fans too are missing the man who gave them a string of superheroes such as Iron Man, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Thor, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Doctor Strange and others. Marvel Comics Legend Who Gave Us Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor and Many Other Superheroes is No More.
The talks for Stan Lee biopic were on for the longest of time. The initial reports came in 2016 when Hollywood Reporter announced that that Twentieth Century Fox had acquired Lee’s life rights. Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey were asked to come on board this project that was not a straightforward biopic really. It was, in fact, going to be a James Bond-inspired action-adventure movie set in the 1970s, which would have revolved around Lee and his comic books getting adapted into films. Since no further progress was made in this project, one can easily assume it to be shelved. Following the reports of Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, another biopic news made headlines when Leonardo DiCaprio was willing to star in it. Yes, the Aviator star was keen to essay the role of Stan Lee in his biopic and had even voiced his interest for the same. Lee once recalled how DiCaprio, his neighbour, had invited him to come and visit his place. “In his house, he has huge Marvel posters on the wall,” Lee recalled. During the visit, Lee said the pair discussed making a biopic in which DiCaprio would play a young version of the pop-culture icon. I said, well, I’m not sure you’re good-looking enough,” Lee joked. “Don’t get too excited, I’ll let you know.” Of course, the project was never discussed and we are curious if the Revenant actor will be willing to take it ahead as a tribute to the pop culture icon.
