Sony Confirms the Door for Spider-Man Entering MCU is 'Closed for the Moment'

Sad news coming for all Spider-Man fans as Sony confirms its characters will not enter MCU for the time being. Initially, there were reports if a new deal will be worked out to accommodate Holland in Marvel's future endeavours but the confirmation from Sony's side clearly ruins all our hopes.

As sad as it may sound but Spider-Man is definitely not returning to MCU. We bet some of y'all were still hopeful for its return to the Marvel world but Sony Pictures chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra has recently confirmed that there is no scope for his return whatsoever. "For the moment the door is closed," he said when asked about Tom Holland's character swinging his way back into MCU at Variety's Entertainment & Technology summit.

The deal between Sony and Marvel came to end after their last release Spider-Man: Far From Home which minted over $1 billion at the box office. While Disney demanded a larger pay cut in their future collaborations, Sony was not willing enough to share the profits. Vinciquerra insists there's no cold war or bad vibes between the two companies and they share mutual respect and admiration for each other.

"We had a great run with [Feige] on Spider-Man movies. We tried to see if there's a way to work it out … the Marvel people are terrific people, we have great respect for them, but on the other hand, we have some pretty terrific people of our own. Kevin didn't do all the work," said Vinciquerra.

Vinciquerra further insisted that Sony as a brand is capable of doing what's expected from them. They are planning their own universe and trust us when we say, they won't disappoint. Don't forget Spider-Man into the Spiderverse was a terrific attempt by them and they even won an Oscar for same.
