It's confirmed and it clearly wasn't a nightmare. Sony and Disney have decided to end their partnership over profit-sharing issues. Their collaboration allowed Spider-Man to be a part of Marve's Cinematic issue but this recent dissociation will no longer see him swing his way into it. While this was just a mere rumour some hours back with no confirmation coming from either side, Sony decided to make a formal announcement regarding their disagreement.
In a statement shared by The Hollywood Reporter, a spokesperson from Sony has confirmed their decision to part the ways but with a hope that things will get sorted in future. “Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise. We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live-action Spider-Man film," said the spokesperson. The same person further hinted about a better future with Disney and credited Kevin Feige for being terrific with his help and guidance. "We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own,” the statement read.
The studios had a financial dispute where Disney wanted a 50-50 per cent share in their box office collections in future. Earlier Marvel owned 5 per cent of the co-produced films' first-day box office collection but considering the recent success of Tom Holland's character, Disney believed it should be credited for making it so successful.
