Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Trailer: Guillermo del Toro Gives Us Nightmarish Creatures That Won’t Let Us Sleep Easily at Night – Watch Video
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is based on a set of books written by Alvin Schwartz, which were aimed for children.
Before he earned some Oscar love with The Shape of Water, Guillermo del Toro played with our fears in movies like Cronos, Mimic, The Devil's Backbone and Crimson Peak. Even his most acclaimed work, Pan's Labyrinth, had enough scary scenes. Now Guillermo del Toro returns to terrify us with his next project, aptly titled Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. This time, though, he is rather content being the producer and the screen story writer, with The Autopsy of Jane Doe director André Øvredal helming the project. As the name suggests, the movie is about some spooky tales that people tell each other to scare the shit out of them. In the movie, though, these tales are confined in a book kept in a haunted mansion. And as the trends in such movies go, a group of pesky teenagers come across this book and then unleash some nightmarish creatures upon themselves.
The new trailer shows us the kind of monsters we will see in the film. There is an ugly scarecrow, there is a ghoul with one toe missing, some creepy bugs that crawl out of your skin (shudder!) and a Jangly Man, a beast that looks a lot like the Pale Man from Pan's Labyrinth. Overall, the movie looks like a really creepy version of Goosebumps, but with more scares and better effects.
