We had earlier reported that Robert Pattinson was in the running for becoming the caped crusader and guess what? The actor has now been officially cast as Batman, putting behind X-Men star Nicholas Hoult. Warner Brothers confirmed on Friday that they have signed a deal with the Twilight star. Pre-production on the film is expected to start this summer. Even as the casting of a younger actor has come as surprise for everyone, earlier, in an interview with Hollywood Reporter, director Matt Reeves did mention that the Batman tale that he plans to bring forth is going to be very different from the other films. "It's very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale."Robert Pattinson as Batman: These Underrated Performances of the Actor May Change Your Mind About His Casting.
As per reports the Reeves film "tracks Bruce Wayne in the formative stages of Batman, which is why the needed an actor in his early 30s." An official announcement from Warner Bros is expected any moment now. Not just this, Matt Reeves will have an entire trilogy of Batman lined up and we can't wait to see what it unfolds.
In January 2017, Mattb Reeves took over the movie's direction rights from Ben Affleck who soon announced that he will be exiting from the franchise. We hear a final version of the script is still in works.
It does seem to be a great time for Robert Pattinson given that he is also on board for Christopher Nolan's next, Tenet starring, John David Washington, which is set to release on July 17, 2020. Are you happy with Robert Pattinson's casting as Batman? Tell us in comments below!
