Robert Downey Jr Confirms His Instagram Account Was Hacked, Asks Fans to Steer Clear Of it For Now

Robert Downey Jr's Instagram account was reportedly hacked, but it appears to have been restored. As per reports, the actor's Instagram bio flashed an advertisement link claiming to give away free iPhones and MacBooks. It bears similarity to the way Jason Momoa's Instagram was hacked recently.

Celebrity hacks are quite common and after Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s account got hacked a few days back, Avengers: Endgame star Robert Downey Jr’s Instagram has now been hacked. Fans noticed when there was suspicious activity on the actors' account where posts of iPhone and MacBook giveaways were shared. The hackers posted Instagram Stories which made it look like he was conducting a giveaway, where he was presenting fans with iPhones, MacBooks, and even Tesla Model X cars. A few netizens made sure to take screenshots as they took to Twitter to bring the strange account activity to notice.

Robert Downey Jr himself took to Twitter on Friday, September 6 to admit that his account has been hacked. He said, "I'm sorry to say my Instagram has been compromised... Please steer clear for the time being until it's sorted. Thank you all. I love you 3000."

There were also users who Tweeted asking users not to click on the link shared in RDJ's bio. A user wrote, "Whatever you do, do not click the link. Recently, Aquaman star Jason Momoa's Instagram account too was hacked and showed similar activity, of posting links about free iPhone giveaways. While Downey's account seems to have been recovered by his team now considering the posts have been deleted, we are yet to learn anything about the identity of the hackers.
