The season finale of Riverdale kept the series tradition and provided for a mind-bogglingly controversial development that has left many fans surprised and baffled. The show is known for its extremely out-there stories and being divisive among many, but the fact that it’s revealed in the finale that Archie (KJ Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) were involved in a quad relationship surely takes the cake here. Riverdale Finale Review: Netizens Get Emotional Over Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart and KJ Apa's Final Reunion!

Being in a quad relationship is a concept that does exactly sound like how it is, i.e., four people being in a relationship together. In Riverdale’s series finale, that’s exactly what we get between Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead, and the decision has caused a bit of chatter online. So, lets dive deep into exactly how the characters come to this decision in the finale.

How Does the Quad Form?

The series finale of Riverdale flash forwards many years into the future and follows an older Betty who is living with her granddaughter Alice. Reading the newspaper and checking the obituary section, Betty learns that Jughead has unfortunately passed away and remains as the final member of their group who is actually alive. In fear of her time coming to an end as well, Betty asks her granddaughter Alice if she can take her to Riverdale one final time, and the duo set off on their journey.

The night before leaving, Betty is visited by Jughead in her dreams who gives her the opportunity to re-live any day of her choice, and she choses to visit the final day of her school which she unfortunately ended up missing due to having mumps. The finale then takes us through the day where Jughead reveals to Betty as to what happened to each one of their schoolmates, and its over here we learn that Betty, Archie, Jughead and Veronica were in a quad relationship together.

One of the biggest appeals of the Archies comics was which of the characters would end up together, and Riverdale answers that question in a way that surprised literally everyone. Since there was no correct answer and the characters here had been involved with each other in some capacity, the four of them just decided to be in a quad relationship with all four of them taking chances with whom they could be every now and then. Goodbye, Riverdale: Series Finale on August 23, Concluding Over 6 Years on the Air. Goodbye, Riverdale: Series Finale on August 23, Concluding Over 6 Years on the Air.

Can’t say that its not a daring choice, and it aptly ends this show that has been a bit divisive among many for a while. Guess leaning into the absurdity of it all is what Riverdale did best.
