Richard Gere was born on August 31, 1947 in Philadelphia. His parents are of English origin. Gere who was born to a homemaker and insurance agent started off as a theatre actor. Gregory Hoblit got together an ensemble cast of Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Frances McDormand and Edward Norton for Primal Fear. This 1996 movie is about a lawyer, Martin Vail who believes his client, an altar boy is not guilty of murdering a Catholic bishop.
