In a not so surprising development, Priyanka Chopra's Quantico was one of the shows that were cancelled by ABC network owing to poor ratings. While Priyanka's international show was quite popular among her fans and started off on a strong note, it was criticised for aping other popular series and later suffered from declining ratings. There was a fear of the show getting cancelled before it was revived for the third season. But the channel renewed Quantico for a third run, albeit a truncated one.
However, even with 13-episode run, Priyanka Chopra's show didn't manage to get the ratings it needed for the promise of a fourth season. Three episodes into its third season, Quantico is averaging a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demo and 2.3 million total viewers, according to Nielsen live-plus-same day numbers. The current season will continue to air on the channel till July.
Along with Quantico, ABC channel has also cancelled another popular show, Kiefer Sutherland's Designated Survivor for the same reason. as well as Zach Braff's comedy series Alex, Inc, The Crossing, an acclaimed allegorical sci-fi drama series that's only aired six episodes, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, and The Mayor.
However, there is still hope for Quantico and the other shows if any other channel decides to buy the rights, or some streaming service like Netflix, Amazon or Hulu takes it over. Since the show is quite popular among Priyanka Chopra's huge fan following, we can certainly not rule out that! (with inputs from PTI)
