On Saturday afternoon, Pete Davidson wrote on Instagram that he didn’t ‘want to be on this earth anymore’ and deleted his Twitter after the post. The 25-year-old posted an alarming, seemingly suicidal message after sparking some backlash by defending Kanye West with regard to his Twitter drama with SNL star’s ex fiancé, Ariana Grande. Kanye used social media platform for speaking openly about his own mental health. On Saturday, the New York Police department confirmed that it had conducted a wellness check and made contact with Davidson. Post-Breakup With Ariana Grande, Pete Davidson Talks About BPD, Online Trolls and His Mental Health in an Emotional Post.

Following Grande and West’s tweets, Davidson wrote on Instagram: “Bravo Kanye West for standing up for yourself and speaking out against mental health. I can’t explain to you how enough how difficult and scary it is to be honest about stuff like this. We need people like Kanye. No one should ever point fingers at you for your bravery in speaking about mental health. I’m seriously disgusted.”

He then wrote: “I’m doing my best to stay here for you, but I actually don’t know how much longer I can last. All I’ve ever tried to do was help people. Just remember I told you so. He then said, “I really don’t want to be on this earth anymore.”

Fans and celebrities have expressed support, including rapper Nicki Minaj, actress Jada Pinkett Smith and rapper Machine Gun Kelly who tweeted that he was on a plane to see Pete. Davidson and Grande’s whirlwind engagement ended in mid-October and he has been open about his diagnosis of borderline personality disorder on social media. Grande also tweeted apologising for her insensitive comments in a now deleted tweet, and also wrote: “I am so sorry I told a dumb joke. I really didn’t mean any harm. All I want everyone to be healthy and happy. So desperately. Please. My god.” She and Kanye have deleted all the tweets.
