In just over a fortnight, Taylor Swift might be snagging some shiny new awards. MTV's 2024 Video Music Awards nominations dropped on August 6, and Swift is leading the pack with a whopping 10 nods. She's up for the coveted Video of the Year for Fortnight. If she clinches this, she’ll set a new record as the first artist to win this category five times. Swift is also vying for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Collaboration with Post Malone. Post Malone isn’t far behind, racking up nine nominations, including Best Collaboration with Swift and for his track "I Had Some Help" with Morgan Wallen. Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, and Eminem each snagged six noms, while Megan Thee Stallion and SZA grabbed five apiece. This year features 29 first-time nominees like Wallen, Benson Boone, Chappell Roan, Gracie Abrams, Jelly Roll, and Swims. Fans can vote in 15 categories on the MTV site through August 30, with Best New Artist voting open until September 10. Social category nominations will be announced later. The show, set to take place four days shy of the 40th anniversary of the inaugural VMAs at Radio City Music Hall, has Bruce Gillmer and Den of Thieves co-founder Jesse Ignjatovic as executive producers. Barb Bialkowski is the co-executive producer. Alicia Portugal and Jackie Barba oversee production, Wendy Plaut manages celebrity talent, and Lisa Lauricella handles music talent.
