Halle Bailey has been roped in to play Disney's Princess Ariel in the live-action film! The R&B singer Chloe x Halle member will be playing the coveted role of Ariel, the underwater mermaid and princess, in the live-action production. On the same, Marshall shared a press statement with E! News where he said, "After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance—plus a glorious singing voice—all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role." The R&N duo stated on Twitter how, "dream come true...," with an animated picture of a re-imagined Ariel but as a brunette. Zendaya, who was rumoured to play the Disney princess, took to Twitter to share how happy she was for the singer. "Yeeeeessss!! Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina are also part of the film where they play Flounder and Scuttle, Ariel's side-kicks in the movie. There is a buzz going over how Melissa McCarthy might also appear in the live-action film to play Ursula. However, Disney has not stated anything about the main villain's role. The studio's press release has also added. "additional announcements regarding The Little Mermaid are expected in the coming weeks." We can't wait to see what the new age Princess Ariel will be like and how she will win our hearts!

We are curious to know whether they will tweak a little in the script of the story. Considering how Disney has been making some changes in their live-action films by making it very progressive, perhaps the same will go for The Little Mermaid too!
