Mahershala Ali Turns Superhero for Blade after Playing Supervillain in Marvel’s Luke Cage
One of the projects announced by Marvel at San Diego Comic-Con is Blade. Two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali has been roped in to play the superhero. Before this, the actor has played Marvel supervillain Cottonmouth in Luke Cage.
Fans did have hints about Doctor Strange 2, Black Widow and Eternals being announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. But Marvel packed an astounding surprise by announcing that a Blade reboot was in production. As the movie was announced, two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali walked on stage in Hall-H, revealing himself to be the next actor to play the superhero. Before him, Wesley Snipes had played the role in three non-MCU movies in the past. He does have a separate fandom of his own. What makes this Blade even more interesting is the fact that this won't be Mahershala's first Marvel project. In fact, the journey for the actor has been about covering extreme ends of the spectrum. Mahershala played the role of the big bad villain, Cottonmouth, in Marvel's TV show, Luke Cage. Now, he will be seen playing a superhero. Blade is a British vampire hunter in the comics. He is a vampire himself but has learnt to have control over his bloodthirst.

Well, the details about this Blade project are limited to the revelation of the lead actor. We do not know at the moment if this film will debut on Disney Plus or will release in theatres. We don't even know where it fits on the roster of Phase 4 of MCU as no release date has been announced.
