Lady Gaga bags her first Oscar nomination in the Best Actress category for A Star is Born.
Lady Gaga needs no introduction, does she? While her fans go gaga (pun intended) over her music videos, it's a big opportunity for her to bag an Oscar nomination in the best actress category for her latest Hollywood release, A Star is Born. Yes, it's her first as an actress though she was earlier nominated for the song 'Till it Happens to You' from The Hunting Ground in 2016. Soon after the release of Bradley Cooper's A Star is Born, speculations were rife if Gaga will bag an Oscar nomination for her brilliant act. And much to everyone's delight, her name was announced as a contender who will battle it out at the big race. Four Awards Including Best Cinematography and Best Editing To Be Presented During Commercial Break.
Besides bagging a nomination for Best Actress, Lady Gaga also secured a place in the Best Song category for 'Shallow'. With these nominations, Gaga is only a second name who has managed to secure positions in two different categories in the same year. Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta aka Gaga is a known American singer, songwriter and an actress. She started performing as a teenager and acting in school plays. She's one of the best-selling music artists who sold 27 million albums and 146 million singles as of January 2016. Her debut album, The Fame was released in August 2008 and since then there's no looking back for her. She was named as 'Queen of Pop' in 2011 by Rolling Stone. She's engaged to Christian Carino, who's a talent agent to some of Hollywood’s finest.
She'll compete against Yalitza Aparicio (Roma), Glenn Close (The Wife), Olivia Colman (The Favourite) and Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) in the Best Actress Category at Oscars 2019. While there's a strong buzz surrounding A Star is Born, it won't be an easy win for her. She'll face stiff competition from Olivia Colman and Glenn Close.
