The alleged racial attack on Empire star Jussie Smollett has taken a new twisted turn. New reports suggest that the actor might have staged the whole attack! As per a report on Hollywood Reporter, the Chicago Police Department has suggested the possibility of the Empire star having staged the whole attack in the first place.

Police spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi stated that the case's trajectory has been shifted. The two brothers suspected in the attack were questioned and released without charges. The investigators stated that they wanted to speak with Smollett again, however, Guglielmi didn't divulge into the details of the same.

A statement was released where the cops said, "are not in a position to confirm, deny or comment on the validity of what's been unofficially released." On the same, Smollett's attorney claimed that while the actor will cooperate with the police, he did feel victimized as the police suggested he had any role to play in his attack. The cops are still seeking a follow-up interview with Smollet and Guglielmi has declined from commenting on the published reports that claim the cops to believe that Smollett staged the attack.

Just barely a month ago, a racially-charged attack on Smollett sparked national outrage as he stated the people attacking him shouted racial and anti-gay slurs. Celebrities and politicians all came in support of the actor on social media. The black and gay actor had stated that two masked men shouting racial and anti-gay slurs had attacked him and yelled, "This is MAGA country!" - a reference to the slogan used by President Donald Trump for the Make America Great Again election campaign.
