Well, the exciting news for fans of the franchise is that the trio who appeared in the original Jurassic Park in 1993, will reprise their roles in the third chapter in Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment's Jurassic World franchise. Considering the first film released way back in 1993, we think you may need a small recap about the iconic characters played by Sam, Laura and Jeff in the film. For the uninitiated, there are five films in the Jurassic franchise. The original 1993 film though will always remain special. Here's looking at Sam, Laura and Jeff's characters from the original.

Laura Dern as Dr Ellie Sattler

Laura Dern famously played the character of Dr Ellie Sattler in the film and it remains to be iconic because, there was finally a female lead who was seen in rugged clothes, messy hair and barely any make-up. Her character of Sattler is smart, opinionated and outspoken.

Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant

Sam Neill played the lead character of Dr Alan Grant who is a dinosaur expert invited by eccentric millionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) to preview his new amusement park on an island off Costa Rica. By cloning DNA harvested from pre-historic insects, Hammond has been able to create living dinosaurs and that draws Grant to this expedition.

Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcolm

Jeff Goldblum famously played the character of the scientist Ian Malcolm in the film. Ian's character is shown to be obsessed with chaos theory in the film. Goldblum's shirtless scene from the film is still popular and has now managed to become a meme in the social media climate. The famous scene was not a part of the script but Goldblum recently confirmed in an interview that he improvised and used his logic for it. He said, "It’s supposed to be Costa Rica, right? So things are hot and I’m sure I’m in some sort of fever. So all the logic is that we gotta get some of these wet clothes off immediately. There are several scenes from the film involving the trio that are also hilarious considering how Sam and Goldlum's characters don't see eye to eye in the story.

As for Jurassic World 3, Colin Trevorrow is returning to direct with Chris Pratt returning as dinosaur handler Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard as dinosaur rights activist Claire Dearing. The film is slated for a 2020 release.
