Just when you thought you can never see another great Joker performance, arrives this one! DC fans used to swear by the late Heath Ledger's scintillating performance as the Clown Prince in The Dark Knight. We also have fans of Jack Nicholson's rendition of the character in the 1989 film Batman. But it looks like we are going to have a new favourite in Joaquin Phoenix's take of Batman's most feared villain in the standalone film, Joker. Joker Teaser Trailer: Joaquin Phoenix Takes Us Through Arthur Fleck's Chilling Journey From a Stand-up Comedian to The Clown Prince of Gotham.
Directed by Todd Phillips and involves the creative inputs of Martin Scorsese, Joker the movie is set in the world where Bruce Wayne exists but is more about the psychology of his nemesis. When the project was first announced, people were wondering if it was even needed since Joker would not be having any overt links with DC Universe slate of movies, that has a different Joker, played by Jared Leto in Suicide Squad.
However, the trailer proved to be really awesome, thanks to Phoenix's body-bending, frighteningly tragic performance, the musical choices and the mood of the film. Thankfully, the Joker trailer keeps the focus purely on its subject and doesn't involve itself in connecting with the Batman universe overtly. But it is not that trailer didn't throw a wink or two here about the world it is set. Watch the Teaser Trailer of Joker Below:
For example, there is a scene where we see the glimpse of Arkham State Hospital.
Also, Brent Cullen is playing Thomas Wayne, who DC fans know as Bruce Wayne's father. And if IMDB is to be believed, then we had also seen 'Batman' in the trailer as well. Or rather a very young Bruce Wayne!
Remember this scene where Phoenix's Arthur Fleck is making a smile on a young boy's face, who stands behind a big gate and looks rich by his dressing style.
The kid is portrayed by actor Dante Pereira-Olson, who as per IMDB is playing Thomas Wayne's son, Bruce. Bruce Wayne, of course, later grows up to don a mask and a cowl to become Batman after his parents were murdered in an alley. So will Joker the movie end with that iconic scene? We have to wait and watch till October, when Joker releases in India.
