In a sad turn of affairs, Joe Jackson, the father of the Jackson siblings, has passed away at the age of 89, as per a report in ANI. Jackson has been hospitalised for since, as the veteran was battling cancer. He left for his heavenly abode on Wednesday in  Los Angeles. He is survived by his wife, Katherine, few of his children and their kids.

Earlier in an interview to Daily Mail, one of Joe's sons, Jermaine talked about his father's deteriorating health. He had said, "No one knew what was going on - we shouldn't have to beg, plead, and argue to see our own father, especially at a time like this. We have been hurting. We were not being told where he was and couldn't get the full picture. Even from the doctor. My mother was worried sick. He's very very frail, he doesn't have long. The family needs to be by his bedside - that's our only intention in his final days."

Apart from being known as the father of the late king of pop Michael Jackson (who passed away on June 25, 2009) and Janet Jackson, Joe also used to handle the business of his kids' musical group, the Jackson 5, in the '80s. He was also honoured by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as the Best Entertainment Manager of All Time in 2002.

May his soul rest in peace!
