After much fervour around who will be roped in to play Batman's arch nemesis, The Joker in the upcoming solo film produced by Martin Scorsese. While Jared Leto was considered for the film since he did play the whacko villain in Suicide Squad. However, the role finally went to Joaquin Phoenix. Thank god for that! Because the picture released by Joaquin as the Joker is without makeup and is quite unbelievable!
In the picture released by Todd Philips on his Instagram, the Clown Prince of Crime looks every bit normal which is quite abnormal! Well, you get what we mean, right? It's just odd to see the Joker without makeup after the Jokers we've seen so far. Philips also revealed that the actor's character will be called Arthur. Videos and stills from the sets of the film have also been leaked. In the video, Joaquin is seen walking by the pedestal with a cigarette in his hand while he mocks a person dressed as clowns.
He is seen walking in the classic Joker strut with a face that uplifts his mind's notoriety and an animated body language. The film is being produced by Martin Scorsese. It was revealed by the makers that The Joker solo movie will be inspired by Scorsese's The King of Comedy and Taxi Driver. Interestingly, The Joker movie also stars Robert De Niro as a supporting lead in the film. For those who don't know, De Niro played the lead role in both the Scorsese films!
Previously, the actors who played The Joker on screen were, Cesar Romero in the ‘60s TV show, Jack Nicholson in Batman (1989), Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight (2008) and Jared Leto in 2016’s Suicide Squad. Considering how most of DC Extended Universe films have been a big letdown for fans, the hopes are high but fans don't want to get ahead of themselves also.
