In an exciting piece of news, James Gunn has been rehired by Disney and Marvel Studios to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. The director had been fired on July 2018 by the studios. The decision to fire had been made after some alt-right supporters brought to light old tweets by Gunn where he made jokes on paedophilia and rape. James Gunn had apologised on Twitter for his old tweets, made before he was hired by Disney to helm GOTG. However, Disney was then adamant in their decision to dismiss him. OMG! Now that he is back on board as the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 director, Gunn has also returned to Twitter too. He had been taken a hiatus from social media after posting tweets in July 2018 apologising for his old tweets and clarifying he is not the man he used to be once. In his first tweet, post-hiatus, James Gunn has mentioned he is grateful to Disney for hiring him and thanks fans for their support. James Gunn Back As Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Director! However, Marvel fans will have to wait a little longer for the production of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 to begin.
Before he was rehired by Disney, Gunn has been roped in by rival studios Warner Bros and DC to tackle Suicide Squad 2. Since the project is already under development with the casting process still on, Gunn would only take on Guardians of the Galaxy 3 after Suicide Squad 2 is complete. Well, this makes history as Gunn is the first director hired by two rival studios making comic-book superhero movies at the same time.
