He took quite some time to let the cat out of the bag but Jake Gyllenhaal has finally admitted that he will be playing Mysterio in Tom Holland's Spider-Man: Far From Home with a funny video. To let the world know about his Mysterio announcement, the actor took to Instagram, it is his first post by the way and confirmed all the rumours about him playing Mysterio.
In the video, Gyllenhaal is seen reading the Amazing Spider-Man #311: The Return of the man called Mysterio! and being rather shocked to learn that he WON'T be playing Spider-Man. Well, not when you're his arch nemesis in Far From Home. Another interesting bit about the video is the Mysterio comic cover framed which rests on the wall behind Gyllenhaal.
He captioned the video with, “I just realized I’m not playing Spider-Man," confirming that he has been roped in to play Mysterio. ever since the sequel's shooting work began, rumour mills have been abuzz with Gyllenhaal's face opposite Tom Holland's, stating that he will be the antagonist. Apparently, more rumours also suggest that Michael Keaton (The Vulture) could also make a return in the sequel and join hands with Mysterio to stand against Spider-Man. The trailer of the much-awaited sequel, Spider-Man: Far From Home will drop its first trailer on Saturday at the Brazil Comic-Con. A Sony panel will be held during which the cast including, Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei and Jacob Batalon will release the trailer.
