Hustlers: Here's Why Director Lorene Scafaria Badly Wanted to Cast Cardi B in the Film

The trailer of Hustlers shows off the cast’s skills, ranging from pole-dancing to hustling. The film had its official premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and critics are already saying that the Lorene Scafaria film’s cast Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Lizzo, and Cardi B is its strongest asset. Even though JLo’s performance in the film has been gaining several praises, many critics are noting just how good Cardi is in her first significant film role.

In the film, Cardi plays a Bronx-born stripper named Diamond. Scafaria, a longtime Cardi B fan, says she knew the artist had to be in Hustlers. “I started sending Cardi messages on Instagram in 2017,” she relates, while acknowledging that it was Lopez and her team that ultimately convinced Cardi B to join the project. “She’s such a transcendent personality and artist, I knew she’d bring authenticity to the role.”Hustlers Trailer: Jennifer Lopez And Constance Wu Works the Stripper Pole While Cardi B Raps! Based on the true story first brought to the world in a 2015 New York Magazine article titled 'The Hustlers at Scores',  the film is about a group of strippers who decide to rip off Wall Street richies. Produced by Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Elbaum, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay the film will be released in India by PVR Pictures on September 27.
