The third film in the Hotel Transylvania trilogy is out (in North America), and it has already started dominating the box office there. In the first week, it toppled the might of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, whose movie Skyscraper also released this week, getting the top spot. Hotel Transylvania 3 or Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation has popular Hollywood star Adam Sandler voicing the lead, Count Dracula. The movie also features the talents of Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, David Spade, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon,  and Mel Brooks, who are retained from the previous films. The new entrants in the franchise are Kathryn Hahn and Jim Gaffigan. Hotel Transylvania 3 is directed by Genndy Tartakovsky.

Hotel Transylvania movies aren't too great with the critics, but do keep the kids happy and have been big successes at the box office. The same goes for the third instalment. The critics have been calling the movie an enjoyable film aimed at the kids, if you keep your expectations lower.

Vulture says, "Hotel Transylvania 3 is for very young children, and God love it for that — sitting through the trailers that ran before a preview screening last night made me all too aware of the degree to which animated film has become the territory of brands and Silicon Valley cultural programming. Far be it from me to begrudge some insubstantial hangout time with Sandler’s Dracula, whose only conceivable call to action might be an adolescent affinity for Bela Lugosi or goth role-playing. The kids could do a lot worse."

Vox says, "In the end, the third film barely has a story, instead choosing to focus on various set pieces centered on the idea of what might happen to monsters (and their dog) on a cruise ship. And because of their commitment to the animated short structure, all of the Hotel Transylvania movies can get away with very, very old jokes — like hiding a giant dog by putting him in a trench coat and a tiny hat. There’s something so fun and goofy about them that it’s hard to get too mad."

IGN says, "The jokes are funnier than ever, but with each successive Hotel Transylvania the audience is expected to be more invested with these characters, and the many artificial aspects of their world have simply become a distraction."

In India, Hotel Transylvania 3 is releasing on July 20, where it is clashing with Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor's Dhadak.
