Hobbs & Shaw is everything you like about the Fast & Furious franchise. Sleek cars, nonsensical but highly enjoyable stunts, alpha male bantering and OTT villains. And it does a couple of things better too. Like having a really kickass female lead in Vanessa Kirby's Hattie, even though she is mostly the human MacGuffin of the film. The leads, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, have been scene-stealers in the previous movie, and Hobbs & Shaw benefits much from putting them in the foreground. Then there is Idris Elba, whose character Brixton could take the top position in the franchise when it comes to intimidating antagonists. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw Movie Review: Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham Give the Finger to Physics in This Slick, Entertaining Action-Comedy.

Most of the credit of what makes Hobbs & Shaw so insanely entertaining goes to David Leitch. The former stunt-co-ordinator had earlier directed films like the first John Wick movie, Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2, and we know how good these movies looked visually and how great the action scenes were. The best bits about Hobbs &Shaw were its OTT action sequences, with a special mention for the street chase in London and the Mad Max-like chase scene in Ukraine. Hobbs & Shaw: From Insane Stunts to Surprise Cameos, 18 WTF Moments in Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s Fast & Furious Spinoff (SPOILER ALERT).

Speaking of the former, if you are a Bollywood fan and have seen Hobbs & Shaw, you can't help but draw parallels to some of the stunts in that scene to Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3Dhoom 3 was the third film in the Dhoom franchise and had starred Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Uday Chopra in the lead. The movie was directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and was one of the biggest blockbusters in Bollywood. So what are the similarities? Remember the scene below:

Like the way how Aamir Khan's character rappels down a high rise by running across its side, similarly, Idris' character and his men do the same in Hobbs & Shaw.

Also, like Aamir's bike in Dhoom 3, Idris' bike also can transform itself as per the requirements of the rider, though, unlike in the former film, it doesn't become a hovercraft.

In both the films, the villains use their bikes to glide under the trucks; in the case of Brixton, actually two. Only with Dhoom 3, Aamir Khan's character is running away from the cops, while in Hobbs & Shaw, Brixton is giving the heroes a chase.

Which makes us wonder if David Leitch has seen Dhoom 3 before conceptualising his stunts for the film.

It is not just Dhoom 3. There is a scene in Ra.One where the villain chases Kareena Kapoor's character who is in a car, while the former is on a bike, and both crash through a bus.

Similar scene is played in Hobbs & Shaw as well.

Well, it looks like while we often imitate some of Hollywood stunts in our movies, even they look at us for inspiration. Or is it all a mere coincidence?
